2025 is Here!

Greetings Neighbors,

As we lean into 2025, we are heartened by the sense of community greater Los Angeles has shown in people from all walks of life coming together to support those affected by the Eaton and Palisades fires. It is our sincere hope that the community vibe we've witnessed is here to stay, and that all of us do our part to make that happen.

We are now in our sixth year as residents of Leimert Park and have spent a lot of time reflecting during this time of need. When we first moved in, we wrote about the mixed reception we received, and rallied to support others that came after, who like ourselves only wanted a home and community. We are happy that we have developed positive relationships with neighbors, old and new throughout Leimert Park. We are delighted that our Halloween Trick or Treaters has grown from zero the year we moved in, to over 35 last year!

We've engaged with community organizations including ECWA, the former Cherrywood Block Club, and many individuals doing their best to make things better for Leimert Park. We've hosted City Council Candidate forums both in our home, and at Rios, (the architectural firm), and worked with our City Council Representatives to address neighborhood issues.  We partnered with National Basketball Players Association, Ride-On, Ora, and Sole Folks to create a pop-up holiday boutique and food giveaway for the community. We also engaged other city officials and senior staff such as our former Chief of Police, Michael Moore, to develop strategies to recruit a police force that reflects the needs of our community.

As we look ahead, we hope to create space for more conversations and community involvement.  So, if you have ideas, issues, or concerns that impact Leimert Park, or just want to connect, we’d love to hear from you.

Sincerely,

Stacy and Stacy Lewis
